Preparing for Mini Miners

Settling into nursery
at Mini Miners, Burnage.

A familiar routine, a warm welcome and time to get to know each other help children begin nursery.

Before your first session

Arrange a visit to our setting at Christ Church, 111 Burnage Lane, Manchester M19 2WH. Tell us about your child’s interests, routines, comfort items and anything that helps them feel secure. We will agree settling arrangements with you.

What should we bring?

A named packed lunch and water bottle, spare clothes, a coat and weather-ready clothes. Bring nappies and wipes if needed, and discuss a familiar comfort item with the team.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

No. Let us know your child’s routine so we can discuss the support and supplies they need.

How can I prepare my child?

Talk simply about the people and play they will meet. Practise small everyday routines together, such as putting belongings in a bag or asking for help, without pressure to master everything before starting.

What if goodbyes are difficult?

Agree a short, reassuring goodbye with the team. Tell your child you are leaving and will return. Ask how staff will comfort them, when you will receive an update and how settling arrangements can be reviewed.

Which days will my child attend?

Our nursery sessions are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am–2pm, during term time. Discuss your agreed days, start date and current availability with the team.

Questions to ask on your visit

  • Who will help my child settle?
  • How will you learn about their routines and interests?
  • What updates will I receive?
  • How do we review settling if my child needs more support?

Children settle at different rates. Contact us if you are worried or if routines change at home.
